Homecoming Fiasco...

HOMECOMING FIASCO...

Yes, I know, it has complicated the lives of fellow Glen Rosian’s that McDonalds did not get their order correct. I am sure someone in “Goin on in Glen Rose” will fuel their entitlement-fueled rage to either disagree or agree with their narcissism. However, let’s talk about sports and this week’s Homecoming events! Tuesday, we have Tennis traveling to Stephenville and those "Lady Tigers-on-fire" will be traveling to Blum to help improve their experience before the upcoming Volleyball District matches. These girls put a good ole-fashioned Glen Rose stompin' on that purple team last Tuesday, beating them in three to send them down the road early. The purple menace even wanted to stir the drama-pot a little with a dash of “steal some flags in broad daylight” debacle. It is one thing to banter back and forth, but mass-thievery is crossing the line. I have seen the guys steal the occasional flag, and with war-like barbarianism, burn the flag in preparation for an upcoming game. However, stealing multiple flags across town, you just might have crossed a line you should not have, wildcat. The flags were returned, and all is well. Let us shake hands and agree to just play the game. Wednesday is our fantastic Homecoming parade. Every year we witness its growth, and it is hard to imagine if we will be able to keep up in the future. The parade is a long-standing tradition planned and executed by the Glen Rose Athletic Booster Club. Unlike other towns, our parade ends on the square with a community pep rally aimed at creating spirit beyond the school district. We thank the City of Glen Rose for allowing us to continue this tradition. In previous years, the parade began at the Elementary School and ended at the High School, but the city wanted to return the parade downtown to help grow the spirit locally. A few years ago, some backlash was aimed at the administrators of the parade that we should “pick up our own trash.” Considering only two people plan and execute the parade, I am sorry we struggle to pick up all the trash, but we do it anyway. If Glen Rose does not mind, please help keep Glen Rose clean by picking up after the parade and helping the volunteers out just a little. We are very grateful, but not you Karen, just do not come. We look forward to seeing you all show your Tiger Pride! Thursday is full of Junior High and Junior Varsity Football with JH hosting its first home game against the Robinson Rockets and JV traveling. Junior High Football is where it all starts, with Coach Villa introducing these young Tigers to a taste of Tiger Football. It is a time for these boys to grow and develop into the future elite athletes that Glen Rose is breeding. Junior High Football, Volleyball, Basketball, and Cheer are all big steppingstones to prepare athletes for a rigorous regime awaiting them in High School. Encourage these young ones in this venture with independence. Every coach will tell you to let them grow. Let them make mistakes, and they will learn. Watch out Friday, here we come. With the hamburger supper and Friday Night Lights, homecoming is going to be wild. The hamburger supper will help fund prom and the Senior trip. Get your tickets, whether you eat or not! The Junior Class shirts have been a hit this year. The GRABC is the official provider of all things related to Tiger Gear, but anytime the school district sells apparel, we 100% support its cause. Do not forget to get a shirt from the Junior Class! Homecoming will feature the Princesses, King, and Queen nominees. Congratulations to Princesses Bellamy Yeager, Bella Tanner, and Brynn Hasty. Senior King nominees include Canyon Evans, Jake Garcia, Conner Jacques, and Zeke Niedziela. Queen nominees include Jessica Van Buren, Olivia Engelhardt, Carly Wright, and Selene De Reza. Congratulations to all of you and good luck. This year we have a new spotlight for “Lord and Lady of the Rose.” You DO NOT want to miss them both in the parade. Be there! The Glen Rose Tigers will take on the Robinson Rockets in its fourth showing this year. We hope that everyone stays healthy and comes out balling.’ We wish them the best of luck and hope this Homecoming is one to remember.
