I SMELL BURNING WOOD...
Color me green and call me a pickle, those Tigers looked like a well-oiled machine this past Friday against Brownwood. Talk about a display of strength, determination, and collective composure to rise above a problematic week on and off the field. It sure looks as though these boys pulled up their big boy pants and rubbed some dirt on their malicious wounds Friday in which the outcome was a burnt pile of Brownwood ego in a relieving redemption year for the feline matchup.
The offensive powerhouse lit up the tower, by going 480 total yards compared to the Lions 194. I’m sure our seven remaining scheduled opponents are looking wide eyed nervous as they attempt to focus on this weeks’ opponent. I wonder what concoction of unicorn fairy dust they're trying to conjure up to attempt to unseat this domination. Contemplate on fellas, these boys are creating a red wave and Glen Rose is riding it!
After 48 minutes Friday, Luke Males, Keltyn Raymond, Brodey Bowman, Adrian Sanchez, and Colton Andress all had touchdowns to seal the victory against the Lions. It just goes to show you and everyone else watching, the Tigers are not a single threat team. Canyon Evans is like a Wal-Mart cashier hyped up on crack, scanning through his targets every two seconds. When he finds that special receiver, cha ching, six points in the bag. We all seen those legs too Mr. Evans, way to keep them guessing. Josiah Groeneweg had a great game also, using every ounce of grit to get every inch he could get. Keltyn Raymond proved he didn’t need the train tracks to be straight as he fooled the jester by cutting outside to score. We welcome newcomer Luke Males as he steps up to the big boy table as a freshman. Look out Glen Rose, this kid has a bright future here.
Let’s not discount that front line though. Last week Clark Anderson sprinkled a little salt on Gatesville’s #1 right after he folded him up like a pretzel. This week, him along with Sawyer Ghazal, Jaxson Pillow, Chase Alexander, and Kaden Gray-Dias allowed Evans to pull out a recliner and stargaze as he sipped on a Caramel Frappuccino. Keep focused, big fellas, you are the backbone of this whole shebang.
Defense went toe to toe Friday to stop Brownwood and had the Lions listening to Little Texas’ song “What Might Have Been”. Every player on the defensive squad stepped up to stop a great running back who lost a piece of his yardage-gaining confidence. I heard some chatter about how Brownwood isn’t good. No, bubba, were just that good. Great stand defense, keep that wall up.
You may have heard the music down by the student section the last couple games. Everyone knows I’m an advocate for the students of GRISD and their brief moment of high school fun. This is my attempt to ramp up the spirit, get them involved, and have fun while supporting the football atmosphere. I want them to be rowdy, excited, and full of spirit. I’m not a fun sponge and I hope the rest of you agree, let’s wild-out with some Tiger Spirit! If you have highschoolers, encourage them to take their spot in the student section this next Friday. From freshman to Seniors, they all have a role to fill here.
Homecoming week, here we come. Let’s pack the streets and stands this week with Red & White! It’s going to be a tight fit, so come early and ready to make some noise. Congratulations to the homecoming court nominees. Come see them downtown at the community pep rally as we again light the “Tiger Fever” and get prepared for the Robinson Rockets’ loss! Go Get Em Tigers!
