How bout dem Tigers?! Congratulations on an across-the-board sweep against Gatesville. From Volleyball to Football, Glen Rose dominated Junior Varsity and Varsity games last week. In the late 90’s, my school would hang up brooms when all three teams would “sweep” that week. We had several brooms hung up in the field house. I bet the girls basketball coach, Sam Schuelke, remembers the brooms! Great job to the Lady Tiger Volleyball girls who have been doing well this year. Hopefully Sandy Langford can keep these girls firing on all cylinders while balancing that juggernaut of a senior she has in Keltyn Raymond! The ole saying of “don’t stand on the track when the train’s coming through” is an understatement for that boy A.K.A. “Vanilla Gorilla”. Things may look great up there in the stands, but when your up close and can hear the crackling of joints as Keltyn hammers through AND carries linebackers into the end zone; smashmouth football at its finest. There was a lot of grit going on Friday and I have got to give it to the Hornets, they are a tough team. It wasn’t the prettiest game we have seen, but it did the job. I bet it was very beneficial, however, exposing some of the faults and mistakes that need to be dealt with. I think more than anything this team needs to stay healthy and get stronger for the long game. Several guys were tired from playing both ways, but they battled through. Running back, Braylon Reid, may be out for a few weeks with a sprained ACL. The silver lining…it’s early; let’s get healthy for district and playoffs. The student section showed up again in force. You may hear me talking about them quite a bit. They are a game changer. If you can rattle the heads of the opponent, why not use some spirit to help win a battle? I encourage them to get loud and obnoxious! I sure hope they show up at Brownwood. The Lions have a student section that will make you whimper away to a corner and contemplate your existence. Let’s get after it Pit Crew! Here we come Brownwood!
