IT WORKS WHEN IT MATTERS....

After last year’s controversy, the Glen Rose volleyball program could have easily splintered. Instead, under the leadership of Coach Chavez, the team has leaned into change, adjustments, and a renewed commitment to each other. Some of Chavez’s changes have taken time to flourish and the job is no easy task, but let’s be honest, the only opinions that matter aren’t those of parents, administrators, or even coaches. They belong to the athletes themselves. And these girls have made it clear: they’re all in. From the start of this season, one theme has echoed through the team; support. Support for each other, for the coaching staff, and for the mission of coming back stronger than ever. If there’s one thing Glen Rose volleyball isn’t lacking, it’s intensity. I saw it firsthand when I walked into the arena, cart loaded down with water bottles and a box of Snickers. The energy was undeniable. Music thundered through the speakers, girls shouted encouragement in unison, and volleyballs were being struck with the kind of force that made you wonder what grudge they were holding from the night before. That fire is starting to show results. Behind standout senior Alex Arrington, who just notched her 1,000th career dig, the Lady Tigers are finding their groove. With that kind of grit and leadership at the helm, it’s hard not to believe this squad has what it takes to make noise down the stretch. But here’s the bigger picture: no matter what the win-loss column says, this team has already accomplished something special. They’ve grown tighter through adversity, built trust where it was lacking, and embraced the loyalty that defines Glen Rose athletics. And that loyalty? It’s not just theirs, it’s ours. Glen Rose volleyball has our support, our pride, and our belief. Because in the end, Loyalty Matters. And mine is with these girls.
