BYE, FELICIA!
What a wonderful night it was Friday rolling into the menacing little town of Godley, Texas and witnessing one of my least favorite school colors (PURPLE AND BLUE are the WORST) being overpowered by the Red Wave that Glen Rose fans and players brought to the arena. After a couple of days of blistering cold, it was just cool enough to hustle into the gymnasium of our hated rivalry and take quick action of silencing the Smurfette’s of Brock with haste.
The Lady Tigers made their presence known quickly, sinking a three-pointer without hesitation. The first period was like a prelude of a good movie that takes a little patience to set up the plot to the action. In Lady Tiger fashion, they did not disappoint, making fast work of putting points on the board and extending the difference between the spread with ease. I think my favorite part was the fourth period, as the Lady Tigers played cat and mouse, proving to Brock that Glen Rose Basketball is nothing short of spectacular. Lily Melton is a girl on fire that just never gives up. Addison Treppa balls like she doesn’t care whose watching. Them two, along with the backbone of Schuelke, Rynders, Bunt, and Peterson; you’re not getting off easily by any of these girls. They’ll eat the floor and pop back up wanting more. I watched one girl place an elbow in the side of BrookLynn and push as if Peterson would be phased; good luck Karen. I am impressed by the desire these girls have.
As one minute ticked away on that ugly purple scoreboard, I couldn’t help but stand proudly as the girls bagged the golden ball once again and cut the net. I am not much of a basketball guru. You won’t see me running back and forth or agonizing in pain the next morning like I do with football. However, we have so much pride for these girls, who personally, we have watched since they were in elementary school. I am so grateful for the fans that showed up Friday. I have been to many games, even though it’s usually watched behind the counter of the concession stand. I hope that Glen Rose can make it to the next two games. I am pretty sure the Lady Tigers thrive off your energy!
